Let's Play House (from the Monsters series)

OF course, they'd make bad parents. He was a drunkard and a flat-out misogynist. She was intent on protecting her childhood wounds from therapy, suppressing them, rather than facing them. They said it was love at first sight. They didn't put their clothes on for three days, when they'd first met. Now, she's convinced he's cheating on her, but won't leave. She's gotta hear it from him, and she's tarting to resent him for talking her into this whole thing. And she's right. He's cheating on her, and he doesn't have the courage to break up with her. There's something sweet and sugary about the smell of co-dependence, something that draw the right people in, and holds them there in it's flypaper trap. But I wouldn't worry too much about this couple. Sure, she's got a kitchen knife, but she won't use it. Even after he throws that glass of scotch at her. He'll miss, it'll be fine. She'll clean it up and forgive him later. In less than a week, they'll start talking about having children. They'll stay together. Don't worry. They're all growed up now.
